TerminalPost Privacy Policy

TerminalPost is a packet-radio terminal app for licensed amateur radio operators. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: your data stays in your own private iCloud account, we don’t run any servers of our own, we don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t track you across apps.

What the app stores, and where

Your radio data stays yours. Your callsign, app settings, saved connections, connection history, detected stations, BBS messages, and downloaded files are stored on your device and — if you use iCloud — synced through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) in your private iCloud database. We (the developer) have no access to this data: it lives in your Apple account, protected by Apple’s security, and syncs only between your own devices. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes it.

Location. With your permission, TerminalPost uses your device’s precise location to tag where you were when you made a connection or heard a station (e.g., “Heard in DM65”), and to compute distances to stations. Location is used only while the app is in use, is stored with your radio data in your private iCloud database, and is never linked to your identity or used for advertising. You can decline or revoke location access in Settings at any time; the app works without it.

Microphone. If you use the built-in software modem (e.g., with a DigiRig Lite), TerminalPost uses the microphone input of your wired audio interface to demodulate packet-radio audio. Audio is processed in real time to decode packets and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted off the device.

Analytics and crash reports

TerminalPost uses Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring) to understand feature usage and fix crashes:

• Usage data — anonymous events such as which features are used and general performance timings.
• Crash data — stack traces and device state at the time of a crash.
• Performance data — app launch and network timing measurements.

This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites (the app declares no tracking under Apple’s privacy rules and uses no advertising identifiers). Firebase processes this data under Google’s privacy policy. Radio traffic content — your messages, files, callsign conversations — is never included in analytics.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Your subscription status is verified on-device with Apple’s StoreKit.

A note on amateur radio

Anything you transmit over amateur radio — callsigns, messages, beacons — is broadcast over the public airwaves by the nature of the medium and applicable radio regulations. TerminalPost displays and stores what your radio hears, but the app itself does not publish your traffic anywhere.

What we don’t do

• No accounts, sign-ups, or developer-operated servers.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data with third parties.
• No advertising, ad networks, or cross-app tracking.
• No collection of your radio message content by the developer.

Children

TerminalPost is intended for licensed amateur radio operators and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Location, Bluetooth, microphone, notifications — grant or revoke anytime in iOS Settings → TerminalPost.
• iCloud sync — control via iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud; delete synced data by removing the app’s iCloud data.
• Analytics — crash and usage reporting can’t currently be disabled in-app; if this matters to you, contact us.
• Data deletion — delete the app and its iCloud data to remove everything the app stores.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
